2016 | North Coast
The backbone of this wine comes from Pinot Noir grown in the heart of Sonoma Carneros. This fruit is prized for its concentrated fruit flavor and supple tannins. We also brought in Pinot Noir from the Napa Carneros region which we love for its full-bodied nature and outstanding cherry flavor.
In addition to the Carneros (Sonoma & Napa) region, we expanded our hand out to the Russian River Valley where we sourced Pinot Noir (20%) for the blend. This delicate fruit from a very cool region adds softness and roundness to the final blend. Finally, we also went to the Mendocino region of Anderson Valley for some ultimate fruit with outstanding jammy strawberry flavors and the good funky nuance of earth, forest floor and mushroom which gives the Burgundian twist to this classic California Pinot Noir.
The 2016 Aquinas Pinot Noir o¬ffers robust aromas of raspberry, blackberry, black currant and clove spice notes. The wine’s elegant and rich mouthfeel is loaded with ripe, juicy fruit flavors and nuances of black tea and soy notes adding complexity. The wine has well-integrated tannins from its 10 months in 100% French Oak and is balanced by good acidity leaving a lingering, flavorful finish.
